Willamette Riverkeeper is the reason TBF is here, folks.  They believe that “Oregon’s river sources are one of its greatest assets”.  They’re right! The Willamette is a defining feature of Portland’s landscape and has given so much to us since the beginning of Portlandia.  By the way did you know that the statue of Portlandia arrived on a barge as it floated up the Willamette? That must’ve been a sight to see!

WRK’s sole mission is to protect this precious resource so that all Oregonians (including Oregonian wildlife) may enjoy it!  Willamette Riverkeeper realizes that one way to protect the river is to educate the public of why we should car about the river.  These smarties realized that the only real way to get the Portland on board is to lure them into the water, feel the refreshing coolness, and soak in the sunshine! That’s why they are backing the TBF in a big way, with hopes that this event will start to change the way Portlanders think about our river.  July 31, 2011: Let us take back the river!  Get in the water!!
